Ok, so we’re listening to the “making-of” and it turns out it is a commentary on the evolution of man… hahahahaha… should have gone with my first impression :-)

I just saw the freakiest movie of my life. Timmy suggested we watch a movie tonight. Now, I have heard absolutely nothing about 2001. Tim didn’t saw anything so when the monkey-men came on the screen I assumed it was going to be a creative commentary on the evolution of man.. WRONG! And as if Hal 9000 wasn’t scary enough I NEVER WANT TO GO TO JUPITER! You will be aged by the domino-gods!
It wasn’t until the end that I recognized the producer, Stanley Kubrick, the man who also produced Clockwork Orange (which I have never seen nor will ever see). I think if I had figured that out in the beginning Tim would have had a harder time convincing me that the movie was going to be ok.
I know it is most likely a very *deep* movie with lots of intellectual and philosophical suggestions about life and time, but I really can’t describe to you how scared I was at the end.. it was kinda akin to the feeling I got when accidently stumbling upon Poltergeist at age 7.

Recycling in its purest form — among the worms - CNN.com
Ok, this sounds awesome. What a great way to bury yourself. I wonder if, like everything else eco-friendly, this will cost a whole lot more. I’m sure it will. :(

Ok, so, honestly, I know I’m not fat. I have, however, gained weight. And for some odd reason it’s only in my tummy area (or at least what I can tell). And even though I entertain the thought from time to time that I’m pregnant, I know it’s not true, and I really am just plain over weight. I didn’t think I was gaining weight until my family decided to make little comments here and there: “Jess, you’re gaining weight,” “… when you get health insurance you should go get your cholesterol checked- it’ll probably be high,” “doesn’t eating that cause you gain more weight?”
So because of all this and the constant eyeing of my tummy I had to ask my family to stop making comments about it because of how upset I was getting. I’ve realized how much power I let my family have over me. Now, whenever I’m somewhere I instinctively fold my arms across my stomach or I make sure to pull out my shirt when i sit down. Ugh, it’s horrible. I hate looking over weight because I feel like my parents have a reason to call me lazy. I mean, not that I agree, but outside of physical problems I really don’t think its biblical to be beyond a healthy weight limit. So now I’m struggling with the thought of exercising. If I exercise tomorrow morning it will be with the intent of proving something to my family. But I still think it’ll be good to exercise and its a real crappy idea not to. Ugh, oh, well. I’m probably going to learn (or am learning) some valuable lesson from God and maybe when I come out of it my family will have less power over me :-).
This would explain the dream that I had where I had on a beautiful red dress and my mom walks by and says, “that looks tacky.” So I hid under the covers all night so no one would see me.

GOOD 008 - Transparency - Vampire Energy
When I get around to it, I’m going to post a calculation of how much “vampire” energy is being used in the Biddle household. I wonder how much we could be saving…

BBC NEWS | Business | US energy law comes a step closer
Not to remain ever gloomy, I’d like to draw everyone’s attention to this. While I’ve been somewhat harsh on the U.S. lately, I think this is pretty darn cool. Not that it will help improve the mpg of my old clunking Nissan. :(

BBC NEWS | Science/Nature | 2007 data confirms warming trend
So, what do you think? It’s bizarre how we have snow and ice storms in november in the US, but globally we can be having one of the hottest years in recorded history…
Someone suggest a book! :)

Hey everyone,
Finals week is really finally almost over and then I’m home free for the Christmas break! That means that maybe I’ll get around to updating this site and writing a few blogs here or there. Wouldn’t that be novel?
Anyway, I was just taking a small break from work and browsing through my RSS feeds. I’ve noticed that there has been a slew of news items about global warming lately. This probably corresponds to Gore’s acceptance speech for the Nobel Peace Prize. This article, in particular, caught my attention.
So, acknowledging that there is probably a good deal of fear-mongering going on here as well as other humanist agendas, but also acknowledging that there has to be some truth here (unlike what the conservative groups tends to preach), I feel as though I really have to start taking this serious and doing some research on it. Unfortunately, I don’t really know where to start. I’m looking for just a basic introductory book on the subject, somewhat like this book is for IDvEvo, only about climate change. After that, I would like to read a book or a white paper or something that is pro human-caused climate change, and a book that is against. Unfortunately, after some very cursory searching on google I couldn’t find any obvious books like Evolution vs. Creationism.
Has anyone heard of anything that they could recommend to me?
Love ya’ll! Wish me luck on my last final tomorrow!
